For an agribusiness company, partnerships are of paramount importance for several key reasons:

Resource optimization:

Partnerships enable the sharing of resources, knowledge, and expertise with other organizations, leading to a more efficient utilization of available resources, especially in a sector where natural resource management is crucial.

Access to markets and technology:

Through strategic partnerships, an agribusiness company can access new markets and technologies that would otherwise be inaccessible or costly to develop internally. This can open opportunities to expand operations and diversify product offerings.

Supply chain improvement:

Partnerships with suppliers can help ensure the quality and availability of inputs needed for production, as well as negotiate more competitive prices. This contributes to a more efficient and reliable supply chain.

Sustainability:

Collaborating with environmental organizations and certifying entities can help improve production practices and environmental sustainability, which is increasingly important to comply with regulations and market demands related to environmental responsibility.

Innovation and development:

Collaboration with academic and governmental institutions can provide access to research and development of new technologies, sustainable agricultural practices, and innovative solutions to specific challenges in the agribusiness sector.

Local or community development:

In addition to the mentioned benefits, partnerships with stakeholders and local actors are essential for fostering local and community development. By closely collaborating with local communities and other stakeholders, agribusinesses can contribute to economic growth, job creation, and social welfare in the areas where they operate. These partnerships can also help identify and address the specific needs and concerns of the community, thus promoting a more inclusive and sustainable approach to business development.

AGROAMERICA PARTNERSHIPS

At AgroAgroamerica, we cultivate a collaborative spirit and constantly forge partnerships with various organizations to enhance the positive impacts we generate through our operation.

Global certifications:

We hold 12 international certifications related to good agricultural practices, sustainability, and food safety. Among them are certifications such as BASC, GLOBAL GAP, Rainforest Alliance, SCS, Fairtrade, and USDA Organic, which support our commitment to quality and responsibility standards.

International partnerships:

Additionally, we have established around 20 strategic partnerships with world-renowned institutions such as the University of Colorado, Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS), World Economic Forum, Bee Box, the UN Global Compact, Landscape, Partners of the Americas, FAO, among others. These collaborations allow us to stay at the forefront of crucial issues and promote sustainable practices globally.

An example of these collaborations in the educational field is our support for the “100,000 Strong in the Americas (100K) Innovation Fund.” This initiative represents a public-private partnership between the U.S. Department of State, U.S. Embassies, Partners of the Americas, companies, foundations, and academic networks in the region. Through this collaboration, we aim to promote knowledge development in the new generations through research and innovative solutions.

In collaboration with Rainforest Alliance and other allies, we are carrying out a project to reforest 250 hectares of mangroves by 2025, with the aim of mitigating the effects of climate change.

For over a decade, we have implemented various health programs at the AgroAmerica Human Development Center, in collaboration with the University of Colorado. These programs have benefited over 40,000 people in rural areas.

In collaboration with the Walmart Foundation and Rainforest Alliance, we have implemented a project to prevent TR4.

Furthermore, we have led a pioneering initiative in the Central American region to conserve the native bee population by creating macro sanctuaries, in partnership with BeeBox.

Local partnerships:

However, our commitment goes beyond international partnerships. We also work hand in hand with local allies in the countries where we operate. We develop sustainable projects in partnership with governmental and non-governmental institutions, civil society, community leaders, and the private sector to benefit our workers and local communities, ensuring a positive and lasting impact on our surroundings.

For over ten years, we have implemented the “A Banana a Day Changes Your Life” program to strengthen the school snack of rural students. This initiative has been developed in collaboration with teachers, parents, local authorities, and community leaders. Currently, we lead, in our area of influence, the Bana-Nutrition program in 60 communities, in partnership with Municipal Commissions for Health and Food Security and the Ministry of Health, with the aim of mitigating chronic child malnutrition in Guatemala.

In partnership with the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS), Fundación Solidaridad Latinoamericana, Consejo Nacional de Áreas Protegidas (CONAP), and other organizations, we have contributed to the conservation of over 19,000 hectares in the Maya Biosphere Reserve in Guatemala.

We regularly organize climate change training sessions for workers and community leaders, in collaboration with the Climate Change Institute.

These are just some examples of the social and environmental projects we have carried out in collaboration with local and international allies, as we firmly believe in the positive impact achieved through collective work.
