Every May 28, World Hunger Day<\/a> reminds us that millions of people still go to bed without having eaten enough.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

But it is also an opportunity to recognize the progress the world has made when we work together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to recent data from the FAO, the percentage of people suffering from hunger worldwide has decreased compared to previous decades. Although the effects of the pandemic and global conflicts have set back some of this progress, the truth is that today we have more food assistance programs, better agricultural technologies, and greater awareness of the need to produce food sustainably.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Countries around the world are investing in resilient food systems, boosting rural development, and supporting smallholder farmers. Initiatives like the Sustainable Development Goals have placed zero hunger as a global priority. Today, we know that ending hunger is possible\u2014but we must stay committed and redouble our efforts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A global problem that persists<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

That said, the challenges remain enormous. Over 735 million people<\/strong> around the world continue to suffer from chronic hunger. Armed conflicts, climate change, economic inequalities, and limited access to resources continue to impact the most vulnerable, especially in rural areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We produce one of the most affordable and nutritious foods on the planet<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

At AgroAmerica<\/a>, we understand that we cannot remain on the sidelines of this reality. As a producer and exporter of bananas, one of the most nutritious, affordable, and widely consumed fruits on the planet\u2014we have a direct responsibility in the fight against hunger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bananas are a source of energy, fiber, potassium, and essential vitamins. Thanks to their low cost, they are accessible to millions of people around the world. Through our agricultural and commercial operations, we reach the tables of families seeking healthy, complete, and affordable food options.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rural employment is also a way to fight hunger<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

But our contribution doesn\u2019t stop there. We generate formal, dignified employment for over 14,000 people<\/strong> in rural areas, improving income and quality of life for thousands of families. We uphold a living wage policy<\/strong>, allowing our employees to meet their basic needs and those of their families with stability and respect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Social programs that nourish the future<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We also implement social and environmental programs that strengthen nutrition, health, and community well-being. Through our Human Development Center<\/strong>, we provide preventive healthcare services, quality education, and training in healthy eating practices. Our school for the children of employees ensures access to comprehensive education, while the Bana-Nutrition program<\/strong> promotes healthy habits from early childhood, positively impacting children\u2019s physical and cognitive development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By 2030, we aim for at least 75% of children with acute malnutrition<\/strong> treated in the program to reach full nutritional recovery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We also work actively to reduce food waste. Through our Zero Food Waste program<\/strong>, we not only donate bananas to vulnerable communities and food banks, but we also transform them into banana pur\u00e9e certified with the Upcycled label<\/strong>, contributing to a circular economy that maximizes every resource and helps feed more people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sowing sustainable opportunities<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Looking ahead, at AgroAmerica we want to keep sowing opportunities. By 2026, we aim to strengthen the knowledge and skills of rural entrepreneurs<\/strong>, promoting local productive initiatives that generate sustainable income and reduce food dependency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, we are committed to achieving at least 50% female participation<\/strong> in our entrepreneurship scholarship programs, convinced that empowering women is a direct path to combating hunger and poverty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The fight against hunger is up to all of us<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fighting hunger is not just an institutional goal, it is a human cause. I am convinced that the agribusiness sector has a key role to play in this mission. At AgroAm\u00e9rica, we will continue to sow hope\u2014with every hectare cultivated, every family employed, and every social action carried out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
